Ballachallan, Callander, Perthshire, Scotland
Here is Ballachallan – now a stables. Some of the original house from the 18th century remains although I think it has been remodelled in part. Ballachallan lies between Doune and Callander, and was one of the Stewarts of Balquhidder (Stewarts of Annat) properties mentioned by Ailsa Gray as having been visited by James of the Glen and Allan Breac on separate occasions, in 1752 in the lead up to the murder of Colin Campbell of Glenure. Ailsa has outlined her theory that the men were acting as fixers or agents for the Stewart family and perhaps helping to gather support for a further Jacobite rebellion.
