Gartur House and Touch House, Touch Glen, near Cambusbarron, Stirlingshire, Scotland
One of those weather days where it was sunny but cold and you could see the snow showers from a distance. Went up Touch Glen right up to the Touch Reservoirs.
If you look at the photo of the reservoir you can see a shaft of snow shower/sun that appears to be falling right at the foot of Ben Vorlich (or more accurately where Arivurichardich/ Brackland are, a few miles to the fore of Ben Vorlich). The photo is taken looking north.
Fell back down towards Cambusbarron. Love the old fuel pump at one of the hillside farms. I have included a photo of Gartur House just outside Cambusbarron taken by me with the horse in the foreground. I can’t find much on the history of the house but I think it was a Graham abode (correction – looks like it is Murray of Polmaise) ! A few years ago it was considered a building at risk. However this year it has been completely renovated and divided into four homes. The other grand pile is Touch House, home of the Setons for centuries and hyperlink provides more of the history of the Seton family (photo is from their website). I got the two houses confused last week… http://www2.thesetonfamily.com:8080/…/Touch_House…
