Sheriffmuir, Dunblane, Stirlingshire, Scotland
A few photos from Sheriffmuir on a beautiful sunny day. Always atmospheric. The battle of Sheriffmuir was fought in 1715. While it was on a smaller scale to Culloden, it is still a significant event. The site of the battle is a great place to visit (it is very low key as you can see from the sign below) and you may find yourself in complete solitude with only the wind and bird call for company. The photo with the tree has Stewarts of Balquhidder territory as a backdrop. The view is changing by the day as there is a lot of commercial forestry activity underway around the site, and they are felling a large portion which has opened out the view. Around Glassingall (Annat Stewart) is the site of the Jacobite Camp the night before the battle of Sheriffmui
