A very cold and very wet trip to Glen Tarken. We went right up Glen Tarken and towards Glen Beich but the weather was very poor. All the photos are of Wester Glentarken today. I will return and photograph Easter Glentarken on a better day.
Easter Glentarken and Wester Glentarken are less than 10 minutes walk apart. If you visit one, I would suggest also visiting the other as you are then guaranteed to walk a route that was trodden in centuries gone by. There were Stewarts in both Wester and Easter Glentarken.
They were sadly cleared although there were some inhabitants remaining into the late 19th century I believe. The buildings are in varying states of repair. None are dwellings any more, but some clearly used for agricultural purposes, or are ruined longhouses or other smaller dwellings. I will hyperlink a walking map but also some history later today when I have warmed up.
