2 Line – Stewarts in Norrieston
The next cadet branch of the Annat family were a family of Stewarts who lived in Noriston near Thornhill in Port of Menteith parish. Very little is known about this family except what is recorded in Stewarts of the South. We have not been able to reconcile this family with parish records or discern how this family grafts to the main Annat family tree. The Norrieston Stewarts are presented in Stewarts of the South as follows:
Archibald Stewart in Noriston, near Thornhill. Noriston was part of the estate of Nori, Down parish. Nori, once a great name in that country is now almost extinct except a few about Carron water. Noristown, a purchase of Earl of Murray.
- Archibald’s son lives at Kinross in middling circumstances. He deals much in horses and has a family of sons.
